Chattanooga Riverbend Fest 09:

Chosen "ARTIST OF THE DAY"
June 6th 2009

Chattanooga Times Free Press: "Best act you may not have caught today — Deep Blue Sun. When this Atlanta-based group of psychedelic jammers opened up the Bud Light Stage, podcaster Sean Phipps and I were blown away. Their combination of lead singer John Marsh’s soulful vocals and funky organ riffs with Matt Lynn’s impressive guitar shredding was incendiary. In some ways, they remind me of fellow Georgians the Allman Brothers Band and the soulful Mr. Randall Bramblett."

Recent Gigs!
DBS has had some really exciting gigs lately. We've shared the stage with Randall Bramblett and Blueground Undergrass at the Hoopee Jam in May. In June we jammed all night with the legendary Ancient Harmony, then did a media and performance blitz as Artist of the Day at Riverbend Fest '09. One particularly hot night was when Yonrico Scott (of the Derek Trucks band) asked DBS to sit in with the Yonrico Scott Band--which included Kofi Burbridge, Sam Skelton, Nick Johnson and guitar guru Scotty Anderson! These jams dove off the deep end, into some of the craziest funk we've been part of. Fun time had by everyone, and we decided we'll definitely be doing that again sometime.

Check back often - this is just the first of many shows that will be made available from archive.org in the near future.

Homegrown Music's CD Review:

Prior to awarding Live At Tree Sound "Best Live Album of the Year" for 2008, they
Homegrown Music wrote this rave review:
Excerpt: "The Georgia sextet boasts a telepathic grasp of each other's habits, and one gets the impression that they couldn't perform their material with any less tightness or vibrancy if they tried. It's easy to see why Deep Blue Sun's shows are just as notorious for the communal atmosphere and everyone's-invited party vibe as they are for the pyrotechnic jam-rock found on Live at Tree Sound. Their tightness and professionalism make it easy for the audience to let go and ride their impressive waves of sound..." Read on!
